MUCH ADO ABOUT SILVER AND SHIMMER

MUCH ADO ABOUT SILVER AND SHIMMER

On the silver and sequin forefront, I can say that I am slowly embracing everything that is shiny and shimmery this season. All the celebs and influencers are flaunting their frills and glitz this season, so let’s get to it! It’s difficult for me to adjust to trends that are so bright (and not neutral), but as an accented accessory or for a night out, I am willing to embrace to glitz.

Although I’m not joining the glitter gang anytime soon, I’m looking forward to a full silver wrap top or vintage sequins to add glamour to my fall and winter ensembles. If you’re not ready for the full silver glimmer, try a deep green silky sheen top or that beautiful rose gold in a slick fabric that will give off an extra glow to your outfit. Here is a great take on the glimmering trend with a Michelle Mason Bias Maxi Skirt.

Let’s take it back to when sequins were popular… Just kidding they’ve always been popular! From the flapper days to the 70s and everything in between, sequins have been an essential accent. Even in 1000s B.C., archaeologists discovered gold discs around King Tut’s tomb! If the Ancient Egyptians in all their glory approved, then I guess I do too! It must be time for me to start drinking the silver and gold Koolaid (so to speak!)

The difference in the trend this year is wearing subtle shades of glimmer to complete your everyday look, instead of pops of gold and silver for an event or special occasion. As Edward Abbey stated mentioning California, “There is science, logic, reason; there is thought verified by experience. And then there is California…” And then there are sequins and shiny things!

In the spirit of trying new things, I decided to mix an asymmetrical wrap skirt (House of Harlow) and off-the-shoulder bell sleeved shirt (Free People) to show of my glitz at an engagement party.  Don't forget a great pair of shoes: MLE Limited cutout booties are one of my favorite black pairs of shoes!
