Much Ado About Dusters

Much Ado About Dusters

This piece of clothing is perfect for any season and is versatile in any print or fabric! Long cardigans have always been an essential part of my layers, and dusters are an even better layer to incorporate. Duster coats and sweaters fall at knee-length or lower, and vary between knits, satin and cashmere. The styles and fabrics may vary, and many dusters are falling into the luxury loungewear trend and look almost like robes. There are so many ways to wear one, and dusters are perfect for any occasion: From work to play.

Everyday Layering

Dusters are perfect because they are open sweaters, usually with a tie or belt and show off the rest of your outfit. I love how a duster can look classic or trendy with an incorporating of a turtleneck or printed top underneath. Feel free to wear dress pants and a button down, or turtleneck dress underneath to achieve the perfect outfit for work. After work, try layering your duster with a tank top, ripped jeans and pumps!

On Its Own

That’s right, a duster usually can be worn as a wrap dress or top to party all night in. Simply wrap or belt the duster at a high-waist level to close the cardigan and wear it with a skirt or tights underneath to complete the look. This look can be dressed up or down, depending on your style and mood!

Cover Up… Or Take it Off!

That’s right, a duster is a great cover up for the beach or hanging poolside. I love wearing maxi dresses and loose, short-sleeve shirts with sandals and a large straw tote to the beach!

Complete the Outfits:

Everyday Layering: I sported my Free People Alex Duster (in Navy) with a plain black body suit on the streets on London while sight seeing and eating delicious British fare. I wore my classic Abercrombie and Fitch dark wash Jean Leggings and black ankle booties. Per usual, I sported my Henri Bendel Mini Crossbody, and spiced up the travel outfit with BaubleBar Feather Earrings.

On It’s Own: Bar hopping in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona with my boo, I knew I wanted to wear my duster as the main piece of my outfit. I paired the duster (as a top) with shorts underneath and a pair of Mango flip flops.

Cover Up… Or Take it Off! My favorite days are days by the Sitges beach and Barcelona did not disappoint! I paired my duster as a cover up with my simple black one piece.
