Spring Break is Over, but Spring Styles are Just Getting Started

Spring has officially sprung just in time because my spring break has recently passed. Last week in Miami, I got to relax, sit alongside palm trees and drink frozen drinks with fruit on top. What could be better than being surrounded by friends and sun? We checked out The Broken Shaker and The Miami Beach EDITION hotel for creative, fresh and vibrant cocktails. I anticipated showing off my new Faithfull the Brand pants (check out my Insta for a picture @madisonsudano), Nastygal Midi Dress and Triangl bikini.

It was also cool to see all of the street style that walks along Ocean Drive in South Beach because everyone naturally mixes more prints and textures, as opposed to my all-black-every-day attire. Coming home to New Jersey for Easter weekend, I had a sense of relaxation and my skin tingled from all the fun I had at LIV Nightclub (or from my sunburn).

The trees are finally blossoming and there are many new styles to obsess over- not to mention more opportunities to wear them now that jackets are becoming less of a necessity. Don’t forget to take check out Vogue‘s trend reports which explain stripes on stripes and lots of warm sunset colors that will make you look tan- even though we all know it is too cold for the beach still. Check out Racked NYC’s list of sample sales for all of April- there may be some winter essentials that are practically being given away. I know I want to try and check out The Kooples and Rachel Zoe’s sample sales which are held consecutively the weeks of April 4 and April 10. Not only am I excited for the new styles, but I am excited to sit on the terraces and rooftops in NYC!

Meditations, Mantras and Yoga Mats

I can vouch for people who try to meditate, but personally have never tried it. I can barely sit about 20 feet from my phone for more than 10 minutes… With so many different ways to communicate and a pressure to use those methods, one can get overwhelmed easily. There are so many different ways one can vent and mediate. When I first started, I rolled out my mat, put on Kaliyugavaradana from the Eat Pray Love soundtrack and just sat there with my eyes closed while trying not to let my job searching anxieties pop up in my brain. I could not let myself sit and stay silent for longer than the sound lasted… I wanted to keep checking my phone or clean something.

I later read that meditating is almost like running, I couldn’t just jump into it and expect to meditate for over 10 minutes on the first try. I decided to also get the Headspace app to work me through this whole mediation thing. I also learned that keeping an intention or silently repeating a mantra, or a word or sound repeated,  which helps one stay in tune with their meditation. There are so many mental and physical benefits to meditating and yoga is a great start or just as good. Check out Lululemon for their complimentary yoga classes (usually every Sunday morning) or take a salutation at a local park since the weather is great this week! I can’t wait to practice while in Miami in a couple of weeks! There is something about palm trees and sand that makes everything better.

Who’s Ready for Spring Break?

Who is ready for Spring Break? Whether you are relaxing by palm trees or just hanging out with close family and friends, there are some new warm weather essentials to stock up on! I’ll be heading to South Beach in just a couple of weeks and I am counting down the days until warm weather and the beach. For a quick, affordable getaway try Expedia or JetBlue Getaways. All-inclusive resorts are of course an excellent choice, but on a budget they are not always the top choice. I am also only traveling for four days so am going to try to save on airfare by not checking a bag (stay tuned if I can actually do this!).

Wynwood Walls, Downtown Miami

As much as I am excited for the warm weather and drinks beneath palm trees, I am most excited for new trends to wear and look out for. I am always obsessed with Nastygal and FreePeople’s swimwear lines, as well as The Beach People for some great beach towels and bags. For night life in Miami, I am excited to wear more prints and different styles of the traditional maxi- I am most looking forward to getting a pair of these pants, and they are quintessentially a perfect day-to-night tropical go to (and I love the Aussie brand). Spring Break cannot come soon enough, and I can’t wait to share the stories and styles that I come across along the way!

I can never have enough scarves and cover ups!
